Are you building or remodeling your house? Perhaps you are renovating your office and need to make structural changes. If any of these scenarios apply, I will explain why now is the best time to finally put in that surveillance system you have always wanted.
There are three main types of surveillance systems that can be installed. These are the cable runs and installation, as well as the camera installation and adjustment. The DVR setup and hookup phases complete the installation. We will now discuss the three main phases and how to make them faster in a business or home construction project.
Phase 1 – Cable Runs & Installation
This is the most tedious and time-consuming phase. The majority of cctv cable installation involves drilling holes into your ceilings or walls. They will then spend hours fishing the cables through your walls to reach the DVR locations.
You will likely have an available route for your cables if you are remodeling your ceilings or walls. If you have the correct information, you might be able to either run them yourself or hire an installer to do it. This will save you money in the end. Surveillance installers charge an hourly rate, so the more time you save, you will save.
You may also be able, if you have a contractor already, to have them run the cables instead. This could save you money, depending on how much they charge.
Phase 2 – Camera Installation & Adjustment
The installation phase is pretty straightforward as this is where you mount and adjust security cameras to the desired viewing position. It is a great idea to install security cameras during remodeling. This gives you more space to change their positions. This is because you can temporarily mount them in different locations until you find the right place. This is a great advantage because you don’t have to make mounting cuts or holes in new surfaces.
You will need to run your cables to the camera locations. If you are not confident with this, your contractor can help you save money and time.
Phase 3 – DVR Setup and Hookup
This is the final phase, or “Main Phase,” where you connect everything. This is where you connect your cameras to the cables and install any accessories. Finally, this is where you go through the DVR setup. If you are not technologically capable, this is where you will need the assistance of a surveillance installation specialist. It all depends on how sophisticated and extensive your surveillance system is.
This is because it is easier to do this with ceilings and open walls. It is easier to diagnose and fix any problem in the system, such as a broken cable or other issues.
You or your installer may also feel that it would be helpful to conceal some of the cctv elements in the ceiling or walls.
The main point is that installing a surveillance camera system is much simpler when you are building. It can save you a lot of time and make your project easier by requiring less effort from your installer. The same applies to networks, television, and multimedia systems.
